| Description
You're it! But if you
can catch the ball, then everyone else is YOUR target! The XS kids are a
rowdy bunch. They come in all shapes, sizes, and skills.
- Power-ups and Downs
in game play
- Use Magic Shots to
increase your endurance or reduce your opponents' strength.
- Choose from 8
different characters, male or female. The boys are strong and fast,
the girls are quick and smart.
- 2 game modes: The XS
kids play in the school yard, the playground, or in close quarters
in the school gym.
- You can run, but you
can't hide!
Review
One of three dodge ball games available for
the PlayStation, XSJLD comes up just a tad short in its execution.
Definite attributes can be seen emulated from the original and cult
phenomenon Super Dodge Ball from the original NES, but the game
never becomes greater than the sum of its parts. Cute graphics, decent
control, and some slim options make up the third tier of the
PlayStation's dodge ball trilogy.

Trivia
- The three XS Junior
league games are the only PlayStation series that crosses multiple
'sports' under one tag line.
- This is actually
more suspicion and personal controversy than real trivia, but I
figured I'd bring this up and see if anyone else notices. Tale a
look at the artwork of the female characters and compare it to the
art style of the boy characters in the title screen, character
select screen, and main Versus screen. Is it just me, or does it look like
they hired an artist to try and redraw the males to look like anime
versions of the Junior League Soccer and Football
characters? This theory is supported when viewed in Component Mode, as you can
tell the edges of the male pictures are a lot rougher in cut than
any other shot.
- Note the middle
screenshot above. If you look at the background, the foreground players are on
top of a building...with the building being at a severe angle to see
that much of the next building!
