Review
A somewhat spiritual successor to Midway's WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game, WWFIYH is an exaggeration in wrestling. Assembled like the Mortal Kombat games, each wrestler was digitized into the game and then given bizarre animated moves. Also different from WWFW:TAG is the peculiar creation of what could be a considered a wrestling 'Fatality'. Rather than simply pin the opponent, players can drop huge objects on them or worse.

Sadly, this attempt at cashing in on Midway's unique idea doesn't quite live up to its expectations. The biggest problem are the graphics. Where Midway had backgrounds that matched the scale of the characters, and did their darnedest to make it all look as real as possible, Acclaim went for a quick conversion approach and it shows. Characters are small, background objects that should be small end up dwarfing their human counter-parts, and the wrestlers themselves are not as clean as they could have been. The Fatality pins get old very quickly, and most of the character specific backgrounds aren't inspiring by any means.

If you're looking for a quick, button pounding romp fest, go invest in WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade game. It's the only game of its kind you ever want in your house.

Trivia
  • Only 3 wrestlers return from the original game: Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, and Bret Hart.

  • The CD artwork is of a house's blueprint. Upon closer inspection, you see rooms labeled sauna, dumbbell storage, gym, and game room.
