Insane 3D combat! Outwit. Outrun. Outgun!

Review
If there was one series that can still say it is forever and ever a PlayStation legacy, it is the Twisted Metal set. Sweet Tooth, the devilish clown with the oddball ice cream truck, has been a staple for marketing packets and touting his own series. 13 years later though, and time has not been kind to our demented clown. Twisted Metal is one of the original car combat games. Basically you pick your character, and then drive around open environments killing everyone else off. It's simple by design, but not simple in the execution. The problem stems from an absolutely archaic control scheme. You have access to your gas and break on two different button assignments at all times. For example, by default Gas is both the Square Button AND Up on the Directional Pad. While desperately trying to out turn someone, you'll find yourself pressing the duplicate button when you're just trying to use an attack button. This is on top of the problem that this was a pre-Analog driving game, and trying to make any sort of quick movement requires an extra button press. Which is sad, since the amusement of TM's world still shines through; absolutely ridiculous 'end-of-the-world' stereotypes, pretty nice levels for the time frame, and a still rocking soundtrack. For nostalgic trips only.
