The 3-D Fighting Game Worth Fighting For.

Been missing Street Fighter gameplay? The world's premiere fighter goes kickin' and screamin' into 3-D.

  • 8 Original Street Fighter vets - Guile, Zangief, Ryu, Ken, Bison, Chun-Li, Dhalsim, and Sakura - in an amazing arcade hit.
  • 12 all-new fighters in the biggest Street Fighter ever
  • 7 different play modes, playable bosses, a total of 23 characters!
  • The Street Fighter Legacy continues...

Discussion
A decent start to the 3D world of Street Fighter. Personally, I hated the majority of new characters. Too many seemed like imposters to the real deals, while others seemed too far removed from the universe they were in. It also didn't help that graphically, the characters look too blockish compared to the pretty realistic backgrounds.

The series would eventually tack one sequel to the PlayStation, and then try again on the PlayStation 2. It would not be until Street Fighter 4 that the 3D SF would take hold, and actually succeed in both execution and presentation.

Trivia
  • Variants a plenty, see below!

  • Worth 15 Points in the Fighters Edge Promotion.

  • Imagine my surprise when I saw "8 Original Street Fighter Vets" and saw Bison and Sakura sitting there. Apparently Blanka and E.Honda don't count as the 8 original characters.

  • The original Japanese release featured a wire-frame figure doing an uppercut to illustrate the game was truly using 3D models.

  • This isn't the first Capcom game to over a phone card. Marvel Super Heroes had one as well.

  • Pollum in this game shares an uncanny resemblance to another 3D Capcom character - Rogue from Power Stone on the Dreamcast.

  • The hidden characters are already unlocked for you. Simply scroll off screen and the rest of the fighters show up.
Variants / Misprints
Yay Variants! Pay attention to this one folks.

We'll start with the phone card release. The disc's SLUS now has a B after it, the PSRM ends in 1, not 0. The manual has a new cover, and the back insert is the SAME as the regular release. Included was this phone card:

For the Fighters Edge variant - the disc has the same SLUS / PSRM info, but there is now more Copyright text and the Capcom Tip Line on the right side. The manual and back insert are all new with one interesting edit; to fit the new layout, two of the screenshots have had their health bar areas removed.

Street Fighter EX + Alpha - Phone Card Variant: SLUS-00548B, PSRM007841

Street Fighter EX + Alpha - Fighters Edge Variant: SLUS-005480, PSRM007840
