Description / Review

Ever looked at your controller and wished it were an RC controller? Well, now you can!

Taito takes their patented De Go! series and heap one heck of a great Remote Controlled Car racing game that can only be described as the true spiritual successor to the original Nintendo R.C. Pro-Am. You control one of the toy cars through 14 different courses, both on and off road. You can upgrade your car in various ways, and challenge 3 different levels of classes.

What surprised me the most about the game is how beautiful it is to behold. Absolutely gorgeous graphics, incredible attention paid to little details, like proper shadows and size ratio to other objects. The 3rd screenshot on the right featured above is one of my top favorites I've ever taken. It really is that impressive.

Control is top notch, and you really do use the Analog sticks as you would on a remote. Everything else falls into place on the disc.

If you can track it down, pick this one up.

Trivia
  • Taito is actually quite famous for their 'De Go' series of games in Japan. The most famous is the Densha de Go, or "Let's Go by Train!" series. They even created special controllers that resembles the real train handle!

  • RC De Go! actually represents the last great attempt at making a true simulation game for the genre. Future successors on the PS2 like Stunt GP and RC Revenge were more like standard racing games with an RC flair.
