Description
See how your PlayStation performs on the court.

Grab a racket and experience virtual tennis how it was meant to be played. Boasting the most advanced 3D game design ever seen on a sport title, Power Serve 3D Tennis utilizes the full potential of the PlayStation console's powerful new generation technology - to deliver a benchmark event in interactive sporting.

Large, life-like players put you right on the court. Smooth, full motion character movement allows you free 360 degree mobility. A.I. motivated competitors keep you at the top of your game.

Review
If one is to go back 11 years and judge this game, the graphics really would be amazing. High resolution, fluid animation, and a decent selection of characters and courts all bring good things to the table. However, once that's gotten over, you realize the control schematics are not all that hot. In fact, trying to serve anything other than a quick double tap of the X button results in a fault.

There are quite a few camera angles, and truth be told once you get the hang of it, the game does take on a minor moment of greatness, but in the long run the game has been easily replaced by other games, both older and newer.

Trivia
  • Released a week prior to the system launch.

  • The first ever tennis game for the system.

  • All characters seem to be based / referenced from real life players. For example, Andy Legacy's name and bio could be referenced to Andre Agassi.

  • Ocean only released two games for the US PlayStation: Power Serve Tennis and Tunnel B1.

  • One of the very few titles to have artwork underneath the PlayStation font.

  • One of the few long boxes to have no known variants.

  • Copy writers take note: If you launch a game prior to a system coming out, NEVER EVER have the phrase "utilizes the full potential of [system]". It's cheesy, not true, and if this was the farthest a $300 system could go, I wouldn't have bought it. :)
