Discussion
In the PlayStation's final moments, there were three sports games released to close out the system; Madden NFL 2005, FIFA Soccer 2005, and of course, this game. GameDay didn't really offer anything truly new to the series - in fact, considering all the weird glitches (see Trivia) it comes off as a rushed project to finally close the PSX development wing at Sony.

With the end all be all football game of NFL 2K5 being available on the PS2 and Xbox, unless you have some serious nostalgic vibes or just want to collect games, there's really no reason to own this.

Trivia
  • The final game in the series for the original PlayStation. It was the first football game for the system, and was almost the last football game for it - Madden beat it out by a few weeks.

  • True story - The PlayStation 1 series outlasted the PlayStation 2 version! 2004 was the PS2's final release which, truth be told, put a nail into a coffin 2 versions too late. The PS2 series was plagued by horrible graphics and some hilarious glitches. One of the promotional screenshots clearly shows a quarterback's arm throwing right, but the ball is heading left.

  • So apparently someone was an NES Tecmo Bowl fan. Rex Grossman of the (at the time) Chicago Bears  is a Caucasian - in the game he is shown as an African American. The original Tecmo Bowl was notorious for showing the wrong skin color per player (oddly enough, the one I recall was a white Walter Payton, another Chicago Bear player)!

  • Despite the rather robust sound quality, the game has some weird moments where the sound doesn't glitch, but gets ahead of itself. While playing the 2nd and 3rd games for screenshots, the tackling / grunt sounds happened before the characters reached me.

  • One of the game's options is to increase the size of the players. Steroids on demand?
