  • Sony's release of NBA Shoot Out would wind up creating a real-world competition between Sony and EA Sports for dominance in the genre. This rivalry would eventually play out in EA's favor once Sony turned over the programming duties to 989 Studios, who have not shared a warm reception with the rest of the gaming community.

Variations / Misprints
NBA Shoot Out was released in both long box and jewel case form. Currently there is only one known long box version, which is the plastic case mold. It is pictured below.
