But be careful - dark forces are trying to revive the evil Zophar, and immerse Lunar in darkness forever. Journey to distant lands in search of the Goddess Althena, who may be the only one powerful enough to stop Zophar. Along the way, you'll meet exciting new characters, fight vividly animated monsters, traverse snow covered mountain peaks, and crawl through slimy dungeon depths as you wind your way toward the terrifying climax! Lunar 2 features almost an hour of detailed animation sequences and over 90 minutes of dialogue packed onto 3 CDs...so what are you waiting for? Go ahead, you deserve to be the hero for once!

Review
One of the most beloved Sega CD RPGs becomes one of the most victorious game releases in the history of PlayStation. Lunar 2's redesigned release pushes RPG players to living on the edge of their health points and never lets go. Game Arts re-vision still stands the test of time, providing one of the most dramatic storylines in a game, given added flavor by the love-it-or-hate-it Working Designs humor.

Trivia
  • CD variants, see below.

  • The only game in the entire 1280+ PlayStation library that gave the player room to store something not included with the original purchase; owners of the Vanguard Bandits game could move the included Lunar 2 Demo disc over to the cardboard sleeve that housed Lunar 2's Music CD. Once in place, it becomes the only game to ever have both it's real and trial version in the same package!

  • Widely accepted as the most sought after of the three Working Design box sets.

  • Lucia's pendant is special for several reasons. First, Working Designs redesigned the original Japanese 'miniature' version to become the full sized US sized one. The pendant is very heavy and was wrapped in tissue paper inside it's pouch to protect it. It is the most hunted piece in the set, since most owners kept it when selling off the game. Makes you wonder how many guys gave it to their significant others? :)

  • The image of the the collection on the box does not match the actual product, as it was a pre-production shot.

  • It's been argued as to which of the three sets is the most 'fan appreciative', and usually Lunar 2 ends up winning. While Lunar's cloth map has been unrivaled, and Arc the Lad's 4 game package provided an unheard amount of game play hours, Eternal Blue's package hit the perfect balance of both functional and collectable items.

Variations / Misprints
No variation or misprints known.
The Boxes
The Lunar 2 original release featured a large outer cardboard box which opened on the left and right sides, and had a front flap like older PC Game boxes had. Opening the flap revealed all the game screen shots, the copy, and all the pertinent information as well as the accessory icons. On the back of the box were only the ESRB rating, the retail barcode, and a huge group shot of the main heroic characters.

Collectors should keep an eye out for the outer box too. Working Designs sent out promotional display cases for retailers to display while the game was still in production. These promo boxes are 100% identical from the retail version except for the missing barcode on the back and un-finalized ESRB descriptors. Make sure when buying opened copies that it's the real box.

The CD Sets
Two CD sets were made for the series. The first were focused on the three main characters; the 2nd spotlighted the supporting staff. Unlike the original Lunar, there are no group shots in the set. Also of very important note: this variant lot breaks away from the 'normal' pattern. In this case, there is no regular SLUS number: both end in letters.

Set 1: SLUS 01071a / 01239a / 01240a - PSRM 017510 / 019780 / 019790 (Hiro, Lucea, Ruby)
Set 2: SLUS 01071b / 01239b / 01240b - PSRM 021510 / 021520 / 021530 (Ronfar, Lemina, Leo)
