Description / Review
The first boxing game from the giant EA Sports, Knockout Kings brought together 4 legendary boxers who would send players to the mat as the defend their respective titles. Included in this initial offering were create-a-boxer and career modes.

After the 2003 release, the series became known as Fight Night.

Trivia
  • There are 5 different CD covers for Knockout Kings; see below for details.

  • The featured referee, the legendary Mills Lane, would later go on to star in MTV's Celebrity Death Match, as well as be the 'spokesperson' in EA's 1999 Cyber-Athlete spots.

  • After enjoying the console success mainly on the PlayStation, KO Kings would offer up 2 sequels on the PS2, and then become a Game Cube exclusive with the 2003 incarnation. This deal actually hindered EA Sports considerably, so the series was discontinued and reborn into the series now known as Fight Night, which only appeared on the PS2 and Xbox.

  • All four featured boxers became EA Sports exclusive endorsements with this release. EA even went so far as to use Muhammad Ali as their "Fight Night Representative" at the 2004 Electronics Entertainment Expo.

Greatest Hits
This game was never released as a Greatest Hits title.
