Discussion
Gunfghter is essentially the Time Crisis of the old west. You play outlaw Jesse James and must take down a rival outlaw who has killed your best friend and stolen your girl. Game play will take you from saloon shootouts, train rides, and a final one-on-one draw with the devil himself.

Game play allows for the use of a duck button, which is how you reload and stay safe for a few seconds. During the shootouts, you’ll also be able to shoot power-ups that allow extra life, continues, and time. Control with the Dual Shock is decent, but the GunCon is what you want by your side. The game is roughly 5 or 6 stages long, and there are bonus stages and mini-games to be unlocked.

Graphics are very good for its age, the voice acting is decent, and the music is just right. If you’re looking for a worthy addition to your gun rack, this game is it.

Trivia
  • The game plays like Time Crisis with an interesting option. You can reverse the "Jump Out" option so that you're automatically already out in the open when you start each segment. This is a HUGE help for speed runs and players who refuse to shoot the 'Extra Time' Bonus.

  • Jesse's Wanted Poster, which plays the role of the extra "Continue" item, is also the artwork for the game disc.

  • There's a sequel dubbed "The Revenge of Jesse James" for the PlayStation 2.

  • To unlock the Arcade and Sub Game Modes, simply beat the game once.

  • While there is only female character and voice actress, one person played all the male characters.
