Description
Relive Video Game History

At less than a buck a game, this baby's fully loaded with 30 of your all-time video game favorites! In the first and largest arcade collection of its kind, Activision Classics gives you all the game play of the original Atari 2600 games -- now for your PlayStation game console. Activision Classics: It's serious old school fun.

Review
A very inconsistent compilation. While most of the games suffer mainly from the emulator running them, the biggest gripe is that there is just no flair to the disc. You're given slow running games thrown in with incomplete games (no analog control in Kaboom?! Hello!?!) and that's it. In the old days, the 2600 games came with photos of the creators as well as personal anecdotes about said creations. Here, there's...nothing.

Save your pennies for the Anthology versions. They were much better.

Trivia
  • Activision was the first ever 'Third Party Company'; that is, a company that produces games for a console they do not own. Created by a group of disgruntled Atari programmers, Activision to this day is still a major player in the industry.

  • Sadly, the game does not support analog controls. This means all 'Paddle' games, like Kaboom, must be played with the directional pad.

  • The Greatest Hits version includes the updated SLUS (00777GH) and PSRM numbers (011671).

  • Activision would go on to release another compilation for the PC, PS2, and GBA called the Activision Anthology. Jason's Climber 5 artwork is featured on the GBA version.
