Review
Each CD contains 4 separate storytellers telling a tale, presented in a fashion similar to the old TV show Reading Rainbow. Each chapter begins with the narrator setting up the situation aside a giant tree. Once the story begins, we are presented with sequential images in an almost slideshow like presentation that accompany the story. The video quality is a tad on the lower side, about a step above Sega CD video. This is understandable though, as each tale is quite lengthy.

Trivia
  • This volume is based on African Folk Tales. The included stories are:
    • Ananse and the Golden Box
    • Brer Rabbit and Tar Baby
    • How Ananse Got a Waist / Ananse’s Visitor Turtle
    • Wakaima and the Clay Man

  • The videos are pretty dated, from some of the clothing, seems like they were recorded in the late 70s.

  • Released in what is considered the "Original" series of Lightspan releases. So far, all of these early adopters featured no manuals or teachers books; they were simply either spoken word collections are education material for faculty and parents.

  • If you look closely at the tree the narrators sit next to, the leaves all carry the 16 Tales Logo.
