Description / Review
Liquid Books Volume 4 features three professional story tellers sharing their versions of what two character, Adelita and Bo, do on a typical day. As viewers move from Alyce to Micheal, each story becomes more elaborate and slightly longer in length. The lesson is based around how well your listening and memory skills can recall information from the stories later on. Both Progress Books feature a fill-in-the-blank test sheet for students to fill out.

The title characters are Adelita and her pet bear, Bo. Each story becomes increasingly more tall-tale like then the previous, requiring the listener to pay closer attention.

Other than the three stories, there is nothing but a small options menu and credits on the disc. There is no entertainment value left on the disc once all three stories and tests have been completed.

Trivia
  • The Lightspan series have no real ESRB rating, since they were never released to the public. All games in the Lightspan universe are considered to be in the E (Everyone) or K - A (Kids to Adult) rating category.

  • The Jewel Case versions feature authentic PlayStation artwork, logos, copyright information and fonts, but they are still in template form. The SLUS numbers all read 00000 and there are generic place holders for other sections (i.e. 'Rating Descriptor' is located where an ESRB category should be).

  • The first story teller, Alyce Smith Cooper, is a member of the Real Women Project.

  • Our second guest performer is Harlynne Geisler, a professional storyteller since 1980. You can read more about her at her site.

  • The last of the narrators, Michael D. McCarty (pictured above), is a famous Children's Story Teller in real life. He is currently part of the DreamShapers project.

  • The jewel case version features two screenshots that do not belong to the included game.

Variations / Misprints
So far there is one known variant in the Liquid Books 4 series. It seems Lightspan reprinted / re-numbered the discs to correspond with the revisions done to the Progress Check books. Aside from the change over from Jewel Case to Slip Covers, the CD itself has some cosmetic changes.

Both CDs carry the same PSRM number, however, there are several key printing variations between the original 1997 version (left) and the 1999 Revision (right):

The 1999 version now carries a retail like barcode, a different ID code (LSP-903136), a slightly different layout scheme and a new printing pattern on the CD hub. Both disc contents are identical when checked via CD-Rom drive, including the original LSP # from 1997.
