So what’s the quickest way to
get 87 arcade games in your home? Update your PlayStation library, that’s what!
Our newest feature dives Dual Shock first into our favorite 32-Bit system’s
arcade compilation releases. If any of the games currently have a Game Rave game
page, they’ll be linked to it. That said; let’s get this quarter feeding frenzy
on the go!

Arcade Party Pack · 720º · Klax · Rampage · Smash TV · Super Sprint · Toobin Midway really, really knew how to suck quarters out of its customer base and these games prove it. Klax is a close second as a fantastic puzzle game, made most famous by the Atari Lynx and the NES Tengen version. 720º was the skateboarding game people played before there was ever a Tony Hawk, and Rampage is still amusing folks the world over |
Atari Anniversary Edition Redux
· Asteroids · Asteroids Deluxe · Battlezone · Black Widow · Centipede · Gravitar · Missile Command · Pong · Space Duel · Super Breakout · Tempest · Warlords There’s an interesting interview with Nolen Bushnell on this one |
|
Midway Presents: Arcade’s Greatest Hits – Atari Collection 2 · Crystal Castles · Gauntlet · Marble Madness · Millipede · Paperboy · Road Blasters Ah yes, the legendary Gauntlet and Marble Madness; two games that will drive you crazy be it other players going the wrong way or marbles falling off the track. |
Midway Presents: Arcade’s Greatest Hits – Atari Collection 1 · Asteroids · Battlezone · Centipede · Missile Command · Super Break Out · Tempest Although I adore Tempest, I can not turn away the High Voltage software version of Tempest X3. I’m also a sucker for Missile Command. |

Midway Presents: Arcade’s Greatest Hits – Midway Volume 2 That’s what the label says, and I’m sticking to it. I’m assuming the first volume would have been considered Midway 1, even though Midway is never really shown on the packaging. Anyway, this volume we have: · Blaster · BurgerTime · Joust 2 · Moon Patrol · Root Beer Tapper · Splat! · Spy Hunter Root Beer Tapper is a cosmetically different version of Tapper and BurgerTime is still one of the greatest games ever. Where else can you be chased by an angry wiener? |
Midway Presents: Arcade’s Greatest Hits – Williams Games included on this disc: · Bubbles · Defender · Defender II · Joust · Robotron 2084 · Sinistar Robotron. Nuff’ said.

Buster Bros. Collection · Buster Buddies · Buster Bros. · Super Buster Bros. Harpoon bubbles all day or be crushed under their diabolical whim.

Lethal Enforcers I + II · Lethal Enforcers · Lethal Enforcers II I feel weird for typing that out. ^_^ Konami’s 2D cardboard shoot-out rings home arcade perfect and uses the Justifier.

Xevious 3D / G+ · Xevious · Xevious Arrangement · Super Xevious · Xevious 3D/G One of the legacy arcade shooters. Follow the link for the haps.

Namco Museum Volume 1 – N · Pac-Man · Galaga · Pole Position · Bosconian · Rally-X · New Rally-X · Toy Pop The first half of Namco’s copy -and-pasted legacy started out on the PlayStation the first time through. This and Volume 3 – N were so popular they were later released separately with new covers, and then under the Greatest Hits labels. |
|
|
Namco Museum Volume 2– A · Dragon Buster · Gaplus · Grobda · Mappy · Super Pac-Man · Xevious Volumes 2, 4, and 4 didn’t do so well due to too many obscure titles on the discs. Why play Grobda when you have Galaga and Pac-Man on the other disc? Mappy’s pretty cool though.
|
Namco Museum Volume 3– M · Galaxian · Ms. Pac-Man · Pole Position II · Dig Dug · Phozon · The Tower of Druaga This is the sequel disc to Volume 1-N and the other half of Namco’s unstoppable juggernaut.
|
|
|
Namco Museum Volume 4-C · Assault · Pac-Land · Ordyne · The Return of Ishtar · The Genji and the Heike Clans I call this the Turbo Grafx Collection, since 3 of the 5 games were released on the ill-fated 16-Bit system
|
Namco Museum Volume 5– 0 · Metro-Cross · Baraduke · Dragon Spirit · Pac-Mania · The Legend of the Valkyrie It’s got Pac-Mania, and that’s all I need.
