Discussion
An amazing start to the Jampack demo series. Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo leads an amazing cast supported by Rage Racer, Herc's Adventures, and NBA ShootOut '97. You were essentially paying less than $0.50 a demo before tax.

I have to admit, I really miss the era of the demo disc. There was a certain gift-like anticipation for new demo discs, regardless if they were Jampack, PlayStation Magazine, or otherwise. Nowadays you can simply pick out a download at whim and delete away when you're done with it.

    • Pitfall 3D (Hidden)

  • Only the first two Jampack's were numbered numerically. Starting with the 3rd, they were changed to numerically by date releases / seasons to avoid confusion of how long one would have to wait for the next one.

  • Both the first and second Jampacks' box copy have one long run on sentence that ties every game's main action together.

  • Apparently the demo was released so far ahead of its featured games that the box arts weren't finalized yet. Inside the manual, many of the games use clearly fake or unfinished cover artwork.

  • Pitfall 3D is actually the hidden demo. Hold the shoulder buttons to make the game choices spin, and you'll see various codes. Pitfall is one of the right side codes.

  • In the opening cinematic, the movie theater reads, "Phil Harrison is the English Business Man." Phil Harrison was part of Sony's World Wide Studios among other positions through his tenure at Sony.

  • Several of the arcade machines either have real PSX game names on them, like Tenka, or are referencing other games via made-up names.
