Description
Surrounding Your World with Digital Sound

Review
A very cool promotional item given away at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 1998. It's really just two simple demos that demonstrate the sound capabilities of the PlayStation. It's actually kind of cool for a sound demo. Please refer to the trivia section for information on both games.

Trivia
  • Helicopter Game - In this demo, you control a simple helicopter shape with the controller, with the blades fading into the distance as it moves. They provide a radar so you may move the helicopter off-screen and have it 'travel' from the back right to the back left speaker and return it to the front.

  • Maze Demo - This could have given the Yaroze crowd a run for their money!  A First Person Shooter, you need to quickly run around and shoot the alien space ships as they appear. There's no real end, at least until you lose you tin-plated armor from shots fired. The emphasis in this demo is the explosion effects as it travels past you through sound. The game moves at an incredibly fast pace, and the enemies animate decently.

  • This is the first time I have seen of this demo in person. Special thanks to Lockshaw and his demo web-site for the heads up and beginning leads to its existence, and Kris for her heads up. : )
